FEATURE STORY

Criminal Street Gang Initiative

press_release_instagram_2022.png

In December, ACCPD Arrested 16 Known Gang Members and Seized 11 Firearms, Drugs, and Stolen Property

Many of those arrested had multiple arrest warrants, were on probation, or were in violation of their parole. ACCPD is committed to protecting the community and will continue to focus our efforts on violent criminal street gangs.

Anyone with information about criminal street gang activity is asked to use ACCPD’s Crime Tip Line at 706-705-4775, email the Gang Unit at gangunit@accgov.com, or contact our Gang Unit through their anonymous online tip website: https://www.accgov.com/.../Criminal-Gang-Activity-Tips-759.

FEATURE STORY

ACCPD hosted our annual Santa Cop event on December 18th.
This year, Santa Cop provided presents to over 80 children!

Sergeant Jerry Johnson from our Community Policing Unit enjoys being Santa as much as the kids enjoy receiving a present.

It wouldn't be possible without the great community support of our sponsors which include the Athens United Soccer Association, Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, and Whitworth Land Corporation.

Santa's visit is coordinated by our Community Policing Unit. We owe a special thanks to our ACCPD volunteers who help the children select a gift.

On December 15th, we gathered to celebrate the season while enjoying a great meal. ACCPD employees, volunteers, and friends appreciated the Holiday Luncheon with catering from Riverside Catering, aka "Buddy Love." There was plenty of ham, turkey, ribs, chicken, and of course, dessert.
